Stryker has released the Mako Robotic Power System for total knee in a limited market release.

Mako RPS is a handheld robotic system designed for total knee procedures and marks the expansion of the Mako brand into a new robotics platform. The device is compatible with Stryker’s Triathlon Total Knee System, and offers intraoperative planning and a robotically enabled saw that guides cuts based on surgeon movement, according to a Feb. 9 news release.

The platform is part of Stryker’s Mako Handheld Robotics line and complements its existing Mako SmartRobotics system. It is also designed to integrate with Stryker’s Q Guidance System.

The device is intended for surgeons interested in robotic technology, but who prefer the familiarity of a manual power tool, according to the release.
