St. Charles Hospital welcomes sports medicine specialist: 5 key notes

Here are five key notes:

 

1. Dr. Podesta has spent 24 years practicing medicine. He has a special interest in sports medicine and the non-surgical treatment of orthopedic, musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries for the shoulder, elbow, knee and spine.

 

2. Throughout his career, he has been a pioneer in regenerative medicine and hopes to offer individuals at St. Charles a more conservative approach to orthopedic injuries and conditions.

 

3. Dr. Podesta is the medical director and head team physician for the Los Angeles Kiss arena football team and previously served as a team physician for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Los Angeles Dodgers.

 

4. He received his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara and New York Medical College. He completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at St. Vincent’s Medical Center of New York City. His additional training includes a sports medicine fellowship at Staten Island Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center and Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic.

 

5. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Podesta gives national and international lectures on diagnosis, treatment and injury prevention for athletes. He also contributes to DRUM! Magazine.
