Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System opens sports medicine institute

Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Healthcare System opened a new sports medicine institute in Spartanburg.

The health system partnered with Upward Sports to offer strength, training, rehabilitation and orthopedic services at the institute. The institute is headed by John Lucas IV, MD, and is staffed with board-certified physicians who focus on sports medicine, pulmonary medicine, cardiopulmonary exercise and orthopedic surgery — including spine surgery and joint replacement. It also includes a concussion clinic, an ultrasound-guided injection clinic and a Saturday sports medicine clinic.
