Here are five things to know:
1. A surgical assistant filed a 2014 sexual harassment claim against Dr. Allard and Carson City Hospital, prior to the hospital being acquired by Sparrow Health Network.
2. The complaint shows Sparrow Carson CEO Matt Thompson was aware of the sexual harassment allegations against Dr. Allard. Mr. Thompson resigned in February after a federal investigation into the hospital’s infection control procedures began.
3. Prior to the infection control complaints against Dr. Allard, the orthopedic surgeon was associated with three other complaints. All of the complaints were closed, and details were heavily redacted.
The 2014 complaint alleges Dr. Allard used profanity toward the surgical assistant and called her derogatory names. Dr. Allard and the surgical assistant had a longtime romantic relationship.
4. After denying the allegations against Dr. Allard and the hospital, Sparrow Carson and the surgical assistant settled their case.
5. Dr. Allard admitted to having a relationship with the surgical assistant but denied a sexual harassment or related behavior while working at the hospital.
