New Bedford, Mass.-based Southcoast Health has earned a seal of approval from the Joint Commission for total hip and knee replacements, according to an April 18 report from NewBedfordGuide.com.

The certification is awarded in partnership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. To earn the honor, systems are evaluated on pre-surgical care, intraoperative, hospitalization or ASC admission, rehabilitation activities and follow-up visits.

The health system performs over 4,000 orthopedic procedures yearly, including 1,000 joint replacements, across its locations in New Bedford, Fall River and Wareham, Mass.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
