Smith+Nephew partnered with Standard Health to develop an orthopedic ASC in the United Kingdom, according to a June 18 news release.

The ASC in Poole, a town in southern England, will have overnight stays. Smith+Nephew is following the ASC model that it uses for ASCs in the U.S. and plans to open 20 U.K. ASCs by 2030.

The new facility is expected to open in 2025 and will include joint replacement and upper and lower extremity care.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
