The smart glasses allow Smith+Nephew reps to “see” through the eyes of the surgeon or other provider to offer remote support before, during and after surgery, the company said in a July 11 news release. Smith+Nephew initially launched the technology in the U.K.

Smith+Nephew aims to use the technology to scale its remote support capability for customers, enabling connectivity with specialist surgeons during minimally invasive surgery.

“This new partnership will enable our team to deliver the highest possible expertise exactly when our customers and patients need it,” Simon Tarry, managing director of Smith+Nephew’s UKI/Nordics region, said in the release. “At the same time, I believe enhancing our ability to support our customers remotely serves patient safety and sustainability to great effect.”

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
