This is the third care specialty to be offered at the facility, which started offering pediatric orthopedics back in 1922.
The new specialty team will feature a team of healthcare professionals, including an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, an athletic trainer, physical therapists and more.
Shriners decided to add sports medicine to their service line after discovering that 25% of patients coming in were dealing with pediatric sports injuries.
Shriners has the only child-specific sports medicine facility in the region.
