The Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., has received a Blue Distinction Center+ designation for knee and hip replacement.
The Blue Distinction Specialty Care program identifies hospitals and ambulatory care centers that are leaders in patient safety, health outcomes and cost-effectiveness, according to a Dec. 2 news release from Sanford Health.
Assessments are based on metrics developed by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
To receive a designation, facilities must have full accreditation from a national organization, have low complication, mortality and readmission rates for elective primary total knee and hip replacements, employ enhanced recovery processes and participate in Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s BlueCard PPO network, the release said.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
