Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset (N.J.), part of RWJBarnabas Health, has integrated Mako 4 SmartRobotics Technology.
The robotic system uses 3D CT-based imaging to create a surgery plan for each patient. During surgery, the robotic arm guides the surgeon to improve implant placement and alignment, according to a Nov. 10 news release from RWJBarnabas.
The hospital will use the new robot for total hip and total knee replacement surgeries.
RWJUH Somerset also has three daVinci Robotic Surgical System, the release said.
