Rural hospital performs 1st BEAR procedure in Nevada

Nevada’s first bridge-enhanced cruciate ligament repair was completed at Ely-based William Bee Ririe Hospital, The Ely Times reported Dec. 12.

The BEAR procedure repairs the ACL using the patient’s own blood and can provide better mobility. William Bee Ririe Hospital is one of two rural hospitals in the state to have joint accreditation.

The hospital has one orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Darin Allred, according to its website.
