Rothman Orthopaedics surgeons earn AOFAS’ best paper award

Joseph O’Neil, MD, Steven Raikin, MD, and Otho Plummer, PhD, have won the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society’s award for best clinical paper award in 2020.

Four things to know:

1. The paper outlined a method to decrease the number of outcomes data questions completed by the patient without losing accuracy for the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure index.

2. Drs. Raikin and O’Neill are foot and ankle surgeons at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute in Philadelphia. 

3. The surgeons teamed with Dr. Plummer, chief scientist at computer adaptive testing company Oberd, to write the paper.

4. The paper, titled “Application of Computerized Adaptive Testing to the Foot and Ankle Ability Measure,” will appear in the upcoming issue of Foot & Ankle International.
