Presence Saint Joseph Hospital wins quality award for orthopedics collaborative: 6 notes

Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Ill., was awarded the Illinois Hospital Association Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality’s 2015 Quality Excellence Achievement Award, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

1. The hospital won the award for an initiative to improve orthopedic outcomes.

 

2. The Interdisciplinary Orthopedic Co-Management Collaborative was formed in 2012 to bring all orthopedic stakeholders together for a monthly review of patient care.

 

3. The collaborative track metrics and develops new improvement projects.

 

4. The collaborative developed new care guidelines to reduce venous thromboembolism as well as quicken patient recovery.

 

5. Presence Saint Joseph Hospital is one of only two hospitals in Illinois to be honored in the urban hospital category of the 2015 Quality Excellence Achievement Award.

 

6. The award winners were selected by a panel of nationally-recognized quality improvement experts.
