Portneuf Sports Medicine Institute warns of possible breach

Pocatello, Idaho-based Portneuf Health Partners, which owns and operates Portneuf Medical Center, Portneuf Quality Alliance, Portneuf Sports Medicine Institute and several physician practices, has warned patients that a ransomware attack targeting parent company Ardent Health Services may have compromised patient information, according to a Nov. 30 report on JDSupra by the law firm Console and Associates.

Portneuf is still investigating the incident and cannot yet confirm if its systems were affected or if any patient data was leaked. Following the investigation, Portneuf will be required to notify impacted individuals. 

On Nov. 23, Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent identified a potential cybersecurity incident and secured its systems. It also began an investigation with third-party cybersecurity professionals. 

As of Nov. 30, Ardent was still working to restore operations.
