Podiatrist pleads guilty to 7 counts of illegal drug distribution

Tennessee podiatrist Timothy Abbott, DPM, pleaded guilty Feb. 26 to seven counts of illegally distributing controlled substances, the Department of Justice announced.

As part of his guilty plea, Dr. Abbott admitted to knowingly distributing hydrocodone on 44 occasions without a legitimate medical purpose and outside the standard of professional practice.

Dr. Abbott distributed the Schedule II controlled substance to four patients between April 2013 and February 2019, according to his guilty plea in the Middle District of Tennessee.
