The Academic Orthopaedic Consortium launched a national digital platform connecting medtech and pharmaceutical companies with academic orthopedic departments.

The platform, called Post, connects organizations based on clinical expertise, research interests, educational priorities, innovation initiatives and technology evaluation capabilities, according to an Aug. 4 news release from the organization.

The launch followed an assessment of collaboration between academic orthopedic departments and the medtech industry. The AOC found technology evaluation processes averaged more than 270 days, and more than 90% of respondents identified purchasing and administrative processes as the primary barriers to technology adoption.

The Academic Orthopaedic Consortium represents 5,000 members, 200 university-based academic orthopedic departments and 100 health systems and private practices, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
