Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine launched the Wyss Orthoplastic Global Education and Innovation Hub at Penn after receiving a $4.9 million donation from the Wyss Medical Foundation.
The money will fund research, create fellowships and establish a conference in orthoplastic surgery, according to an April 17 news release. The donation will be spread over five years, and Wyss Medical Foundation has now donated more than $11 million to Penn’s orthopedic surgery program.
“Orthoplastic surgery transforms how we treat and reconstruct severe limb injuries, and the creation of this new hub will allow for us to spread knowledge and training that could help tens of thousands of people,” L. Scott Levin, MD, chair emeritus of orthopedics, said in the release.
