Now, the Karakurt threat group, a data extortion group that steals data and threatens to sell or auction it off, has demanded a ransom from Peachtree, according to a June 8 report from the HIPAA Journal.

The group has added Peachtree Orthopedics to its data leak site and claims to have 194 gigabytes of data, including personal information and medical records, that it will publish if a ransom is not paid.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
