The Sioux City, Iowa-based Tri-State Specialists has added seven new physicians to its medical team, including two orthopedic surgeons, according to Sioux City Journal.

The Wichita, Kan.-based Newman University recently added five members to its board of trustees, including orthopedic surgeon Patrick Do, MD, according to Wellington Daily News.

"Continental Who's Who" recognized Tamara Pylawka, MD, as a pinnacle professional in healthcare, according to Yahoo! Finance.

Here are nine orthopedic surgeons in the news this past week.

Adam T. Perry, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at The CORE Institute at Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists, a practice based in Lafayette. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine and total joint replacement.

William Allen, MD, passed away this past Mon., Sept. 12, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune. He was 81 years old.

Gregg A. Malmquist, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Western Kentucky Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Associates, a medical group with four offices throughout the state. He his clinical interests include fracture surgery, total joint replacement and sports medicine.

The medical book and journal publisher Elsevier will introduce five books on orthopedic hand surgery during the American Society for Surgery of the Hand's annual meeting at the end of the month.

Early discharge following a total joint replacement does not increase postoperative complication rates, according to a study published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
