Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center has opened a new 530,000-square-foot, nine-story medical pavilion with the latest orthopedic 'smart hospital' technology. 

Renton, Wash.-based Providence partnered with the Seattle Sounders, a Major League Soccer club, the team announced Jan. 20. 

J. Richard Steadman, MD, who founded the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo., died at age 85, the practice said Jan. 22.
