The NFL is expanding its initiative to increase diversity in sports medicine in its second year.

Nearly all healthcare systems and physicians are growing concerned about predicted workforce shortages, with a deficit of 5,050 orthopedic surgeons expected by 2030. 

Women only make up about 18 percent of the orthopedic surgeon workforce, one of the largest gender disparities across healthcare specialties.
