Here are five notable orthopedic surgery updates that have taken place in Texas since Sept. 12: 

David Campbell, MD, recently joined Spine Team Texas, an eight-office spine group.

A new study of medtech company Medacta's NextAR Shoulder augmented reality shoulder application found that the application offers more accuracy and precision for surgeons. 

UPMC Williamsport (Pa.) has added Jesse Torbert, MD, to its orthopedics team, according to an Oct. 11 report by NorthcentralPA.com.

David Altchek, MD, performed elbow surgery on Francisco Lindor, a shortstop for the New York Mets in New York City, ESPN reported Oct. 11.

Orthopedic devicemaker Exactech is facing hundreds of lawsuits filed on behalf of 1,100 patients who say they received faulty joint implants, KFF Health News reported Oct. 10.

Daniel Sjoquist, MD, has joined Bellin Health Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, according to an Oct. 6 report by Iron Mountain Daily News.

WebMD and Medscape partnered to name the 65 best hospitals for orthopedic care in 2023 based on survey data from thousands of patients and providers. Five hospitals were named by California patients as being the best for orthopedics this year.
