Along with orthopedics, high-acuity spine and cardiology services grew in the ASc setting in 2022, the report said. Tenet, the parent company of United Surgical Partners International, said about 20 percent of their ASC cases were high-acuity due to an increase in orthopedics and spine, the report said.
Catherine Retzbach, director of ASC operations at Virtua Health, said in the report that ASCs performing high-acuity cases “offer patients more options to have procedures be performed in a high-quality, low-cost environment.”
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
