Orthopedic surgeon Spencer Greendyke, MD, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he was convicted of 11 felony counts of video voyeurism including children, CBS affiliate KREM reported April 4.

In March 2024, an employee of the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho-based surgeon found hidden cameras in the office bathroom and found multiple recordings, the report said. Further investigation found Dr. Greendyke, 69, had more than 800 hidden videos over the past 15 to 20 years at his home and office.

He was charged for recordings dating to 2019 because of Idaho’s five-year statute of limitations. During that time frame, Dr. Greendyke had secretly recorded several employees and children in the bathroom.

Dr. Greendyke’s 40-year sentence allows for parole eligibility after 20 years. If released from prison, he will have to register as a sex offender.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
