Additionally, Dr. Akhtar is the total joint program chair at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg. He has done research on orthopedic surgery with the National Institute of Health.
Dr. Akhtar’s clinical interests include robotic assisted surgery, minimally invasive surgery, arthroscopy and computer navigation knee and hip replacement surgery.
After earning his medical degree from Boston-based Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Akhtar completed his residency at Detroit-based Henry Ford Hospital. He underwent fellowship training in total joints at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
