Dr. Chmell’s primary focus is treating patients with knee and hip injuries. He graduated from the University of Chicago Medical School before completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and his joint replacement surgery fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard University Medical School in Boston.
He is a board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and serves as a clinical assistant professor at University of Illinois — College of Medicine in Rockford. Dr. Chmell also holds membership with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the College of Engineering Advisory Council at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
