Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Brian Bear of OrthoIllinois

Brian J. Bear, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon focusing on treating shoulder, hand, wrist and elbow conditions. He practices at OrthoIllinois, based in Rockford. He is an associate clinical professor at University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford and an assistant clinical professor at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Bear has expertise in microvascular, traumatic and reconstructive surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Mid-America Orthopaedic Association and American College of Physician Executives. He serves on the review board of Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. His work has been published in peer-reviewed publications, such as The American Journal of Orthopedics and Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery.

 

Dr. Bear earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also completed a shoulder, elbow, hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
