Orthopedic surgeon to give commencement speech at University of Georgia

Orthopedic surgeon Leah Brown, MD, was tapped to give the commencement speech in May at Athen-based University of Georgia, The Red & Black reported Feb. 14.

Dr. Brown is an alumna from the university and recived her bachelor’s there in 1998. She was a battalion surgeon for two years at Camp Pendleton in California and supported medical efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

She recived nine miniltary honors and awards including including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal and Navy Commendation Medal and remains on the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Dr. Brown owns and co-founded Urgently Ortho in Scottsdale, Ariz.
