Ronjon Paul, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Endeavor Health Medical Group in Schaumburg, Ill.

He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgical techniques, providing patient care globally. Previously, he served as chair emeritus of Duly Health and Care’s spine surgery department in Downers Grove, Ill. Beyond his surgical techniques, he also focuses on nonoperative alternatives.

In addition to earning several practice awards, Dr. Paul has earned a spot on the Top Doctors list, been named A Spine Leader to Know by Becker’s and Physician of the Year by DuPage Medical Group.

He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.

Over his 20 years in practice, Dr. Paul has performed over 7,000 spine surgeries.

He recently connected with Becker’s to discuss the new generation of technology and artificial intelligence in orthopedics and spine.

“If you go to any [orthopedic and spine] conferences, many of the physicians in the room will tell you that we have a plethora of studies based on database statistics, and some of those are very well done. Some of them I’m not sure could be as well done, not necessarily the fault of the researchers, but [because of] the quality of the data. I’m optimistic that as we look at AI and machine learning, that we’re going to do a better job with the mountains of data that we now have in healthcare, especially since we’re consolidated now,” Dr. Paul told Becker’s. “Is there a way to harness technology to allow that provider to read minds? That’s a lofty goal. I’m still trying to figure out how to do that. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and your patient satisfaction, your consumerism will all be driven by that.”

Dr. Paul is speaking at Becker’s 22nd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, set for June 19-21 at the Swissotel Chicago.
