Jason Sansone, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and president of Orthopedic & Spine Centers of Wisconsin in Madison.

Dr. Sansone specializes in spine surgery and orthopedic traumatology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and an active member of the Wisconsin Medical Society.

His fellowship training also includes spine surgery, which allows him to operate on patients with spine conditions and operative and nonoperative complex fractures.

In 2023, Dr. Sansone and 10 other orthopedic surgeons who had worked at Madison-based SSM Health left to open Orthopedic & Spine Centers of Wisconsin. While the move held certain risks, the autonomy it provided was also “in some ways extremely liberating,” he said.

Dr. Sansone connected with Becker’s to discuss several key topics, including private practice autonomy, a collaborative approach to orthopedics and value-based care.

“The way I do business, and the way I think that successful organizations do business, is they look for win-win opportunities,” Dr. Sansone told Becker’s. “We go into these communities and specifically say we’re looking to be a partner. We want to help you. We want you to help us. We want to do this with integrity, and we want to be long-term. I think we wear that on our sleeve as an organization, and our various partners understand that’s honest and understand that’s exactly what we’re trying to do. We don’t view healthcare as a zero sum game. I really do believe that the success of healthcare requires partnerships. It’s allowed us to really act synergistically with our various community partners.”

Dr. Sansone is speaking at Becker’s 22nd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, set for June 19-21 at the Swissotel Chicago.
