Orthopedic surgeon retires after 35 years at local Michigan practice: 5 notes

Orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon Gary G. Doss, DO, retired from Port Huron, Mich.-based Orthopedic Associates after 35 years at the practice.

1. Dr. Doss specialized in bone, joint and muscle injuries and conditions.

2. Previously, Dr. Doss served as a sports medicine coordinator and president of the St. Clair County Medical Society.

3. He received various awards and recognitions during his years in practice, including the Michigan State Medical Society Community Service Award, Special Recognition Award from Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and Humanitarian Award from St. Louis Metropolitan Hospital Association.

4. Dr. Doss is a member of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and American College of Sports Medicine.

5. After earning his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Kirksville (Mo.) College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Doss completed a residency at Normandy Osteopathic Hospital in St. Louis.
