Orthopedic surgeon performs season-ending procedure on NBA player

Foot and ankle specialist David Porter, MD, performed surgery on Utah Jazz center Udoka Azubuike on March 25, according to the NBA.

The procedure, performed in consultation with team physician Travis Maak, MD, repaired multiple ankle and foot ligaments in Mr. Azubuike’s right foot to stabilize the subtalar joint.

Dr. Porter performed the surgery in Indianapolis, where he practices with Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.

The player will be sidelined for the rest of the 2021-22 season, according to the report.
