Indiana saw the largest year-over-year decrease in the average annual salary for orthopedic surgeons, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Across the U.S., the average annual salary for orthopedic surgeons increased $8,510, reaching $373,570 in 2025.

The agency updated compensation data May 15, 2026 to reflect 2025 information, the latest available.

In total, the average annual salary for orthopedic surgeons decreased in nine states.
