Mr. Matlow beat Dr. Bellamy by over 4,000 votes.
Dr. Bellamy called his loss “bittersweet”.
“Both of us ran a solid campaign. I hope for the best for him and I hope for the best for the city,” Dr. Bellamy told the Democrat. “It’s a bittersweet moment. I would have really liked to serve in this position, but it would have taken a lot of time and I’d rather focus on the benefit of not having won instead of what could have been.”
