Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Michael Vener of Glacial Lakes Orthopaedics

Michael J. Vener, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Glacial Lakes Orthopaedics, an orthopedic surgery and sports medicine practice based in Watertown, S.D. He specializes in adult reconstruction, shoulder and sports-related procedures.

He has been a self-employed orthopedic surgeon in Watertown, S.D., since 1995, although he also holds hospital and academic affiliations with Watertown, S.D.-based Prairie Lakes Hospital and Dawson, Minn.-based Johnson Memorial Health Services, among other healthcare facilities. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Vener’s research, which focused on conditions like post-traumatic arthritis, has been published in American Journal of Sports Medicine and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

Dr. Vener earned his medical degree at University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, where he went on to complete residency training in orthopedic surgery.
