He is the director of sports medicine in the division of orthopedic surgery at University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Medicine, where he also holds faculty appointments in the surgery and family medicine departments. Dr. Miao is the lead orthopedic surgeon for the university’s athletic teams, a physician for the USA Swimming national team and a consultant orthopedic surgeon for Cirque du Soleil. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and holds memberships with the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, among other professional societies.
Dr. Miao earned his medical degree at the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He went on to complete an orthopedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh and an arthroscopy and sports medicine fellowship at UC San Diego.
