Dr. Alaia’s clinical interests include anterior cruciate ligament tear, ligament reconstruction, knee dislocation, cartilage repair, dislocated shoulder surgery, rotator cuff tear, osteoarthritis of the shoulder, ankle surgery, Achilles tendon rupture as well as torn medial meniscus.
Dr. Alaia’s research centers on the management and treatment of complex, multi-ligamentous knee injuries as well as single-ligament injuries such as ACL and MCL tears, as well as studies designed to improve treatment of rotator cuff, shoulder labrum, and biceps tendon. His work has been published in a number of prestigious publications, including Clinical Orthopaedics & Related Research and Arthroscopy Techniques.
After earning his medical degree at the NYU School of Medicine, Dr. Alaia completed his residency at NYU’s Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
