He is chief of staff at the Campbell Clinic, where he has also served as the sports medicine fellowship director. He has sat on the editorial board of American Journal of Sports Medicine and served as team physician for the Memphis Grizzlies. He is active in the orthopedic community, as both past president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and treasurer of American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Azar earned his medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He went on to complete residency training at University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic in Memphis and a sports medicine fellowship at American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala.
