Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Aristides Cruz Jr. of University Orthopedics

Aristides I. Cruz Jr., MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Providence, R.I.-based University Orthopedics, an orthopedic referral center affiliated with Brown University’s Alpert Medical School. Dr. Cruz specializes in pediatric orthopedic surgery with an emphasis on the treatment of fractures, traumatic injuries and sports-related conditions.

He is as an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Brown University’s Alpert Medical School and an attending physician at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, both located in Providence, R.I. Prior to completing his fellowship, he served in the U.S. Air Force as an orthopedic surgeon. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a specialty fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

 

Dr. Cruz earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. He went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Medicine and a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
