Orthopedic surgeon, former Pentagon executive named AdventHealth CMO

Orlando-based AdventHealth has appointed Stephen Knych, MD, CMO of its operations in Volusia, Flagler and Lake counties and of AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City, Fla., Palm Coast Observer reported July 6.

Dr. Knych, a retired colonel of the U.S. Air Force, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement and sports medicine.

As a clinician and health executive over the past 38 years, he has developed healthcare plans, policies and programs at the Pentagon. He also was selected by the U.S. surgeon general to direct the Air Force Directorate of Homeland Security after 9/11.

Dr. Knych previously served as vice president and chief quality and patient safety officer for AdventHealth, where he directed patient safety and clinical performance improvements across the system.
