Ten orthopedic surgeons opened Orthopedic Specialists of Jacksonville (Fla.) earlier in June, according to a June 30 report from Jacksonville Daily Record.
The practice has two locations in Jacksonville and is staffed by surgeons who left Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute.
In April, Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute announced a layoff of more than 150 employees and plans to shutter six clinic locations amid a physician buyout of Jacksonville-based Baptist Health.
Orthopedic Specialists of Jacksonville will remain affiliated with Baptist Health.
Kevin Kaplan, MD, will serve as lead physician of Orthopedic Specialists of Jacksonville, the report said.
