Orthopedic society award to advance female athlete injury prevention

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine has presented the $10,000 Frank and JoAnne Noyes Award of Excellence to honor collaborative research that advances the health, fitness and injury prevention of female athletes. 

The award will recognize projects involving physician-scientist and physical therapy or athletic training teams, according to a July 30 news release shared with Becker’s. It was created in honor of Frank Noyes, MD, founder of Sportsmetrics, an ACL injury prevention program.

Sportsmetrics has programs in 18 countries, the release said.
