Autocam Medical, an orthopedic device manufacturer, will spend $70 million to open a 100,000-square-foot facility in Warsaw, Ind., according to a June 16 report from 21 Alive News.
The new facility expects to bring hundreds of jobs to Warsaw, otherwise known as the “orthopedic capital of the world,” due to the large number of orthopedic medtech companies headquartered there.
Warsaw is currently home to approximately one-third of the world’s orthopedic manufacturing companies, and two-thirds of the world’s hip and knee manufacturing companies.
Construction on the Autocam facility is expected to begin this year, according to the report. The facility is expected to create 300 high-skill jobs, including CNC machinists, engineers and technical and manufacturing roles.
“Warsaw offers a workforce with technical excellence in the medical device space and unique industry leadership. That’s exactly the kind of environment where we want to invest,” John Kennedy, CEO of Autocam, told 21 Alive. “We are thrilled to expand in the Warsaw community and contribute to its continued leadership in orthopedic innovation.”
