Management services organization U.S. Orthopaedic Partners has selected Johnson & Johnson as its official vendor for total joint products.
The decision followed a surgeon-led evaluation process that included head-to-head clinical reviews and outcomes benchmarking. USOP said clinical quality and long-term outcomes were the top criteria for product selection, according to a system news release, shared on Oct. 1 with Becker’s.
The agreement standardizes implants and related supplies across USOP’s platform, creating efficiencies through streamlined contracting, simplified logistics and consolidated inventory management. Leaders expect the initiative to free up millions annually that can be reinvested into technology and patient care programs.
The partnership also gives USOP physicians access to Johnson & Johnson’s latest technologies, including the Velys robotic-assisted system. Ongoing physician oversight will monitor outcomes to ensure performance standards are met, according to the release.
The products will roll out at USOP practices starting in the second week of October.
