Brookfield, Conn.-based Orthopaedic Specialists of Connecticut recently experienced a data security incident that exposed the information of 22,541 individuals.
An unauthorized third party gained access to the practice’s network environment March 2, according to a notice on the practice’s website. An investigation determined that the unauthorized party may have acquired certain data, including names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, insurance and medical information.
The practice submitted the incident to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights Breach Portal April 24.
