Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation awards grant to biologics research

The Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation 2026 Career Development Grant, was awarded to Alvin Su, MD, PhD, and his team for biologics research. according to a May 21 news release.

The $300,00 grant provides funding over three years. Dr. Su, of Wilmington, Del.-based Nemours Children’s Hospital; Justin Parreno, PhD, and Xinqiao Jia, PhD, of Newark-based University of Delaware, are behind the study, “Bioengineering Stratified Cartilage Through Bioinspired Matrix Stiffening.”

“The study focuses on focal full-thickness cartilage defect or osteochondral defect, which are common debilitating conditions for patients who are young and active or at working age,” Dr. Su said in the release. “The success of this project could potentially bring us closer to a better solution to restore their functional capacity and lifestyle.”
