Orthopaedic Institute for Children researcher participates in AAOS’ Research Capitol Hill Day: 3 points

A researcher from the Orthopaedic Institute for Children in Los Angeles participated in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Research Capitol Hill Day.

1. Karen Lyons, PhD, joined fellow researchers, surgeons and patients on Capitol Hill to help raise awareness about musculoskeletal conditions and to urge Congress to appropriate funds for research.

 

2. Specifically, the participants in the event urged Congress to appropriate $34.5 billion to the National Institutes of Health and to support the Next Generation Researchers Act.

 

3. Currently, Dr. Lyons is involved in research, funded by OIC, that aims to find treatments for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive.
