OrthoAtlanta, part of Piedmont Orthopedics, will serve as the official orthopedic and sports medicine partner of the Aflac Kickoff Games for another year in a row, continuing a streak it has held since 2008, according to an Aug. 29 system news release.
The annual series of college football games played on the opening weekend of the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision season will be played Aug. 30 and Aug.31 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The games will feature Tennessee vs. Syracuse and Virginia Tech vs. South Carolina. OrthoAtlanta physicians will provide full-service medical support, including onsite coverage, injury evaluation and travel assistance during practices, according to the release.
“Our commitment to athlete health and safety starts the moment teams arrive in Atlanta and continues through every hard hit or sprint across the turf,” Todd Schmidt, MD, orthopedic surgeon and medical director for the 2025 games, said in the release.
The Aflac Kickoff Games, organized by Peach Bowl, are the nation’s longest-running neutral-site FBS season openers.
