Cleveland-based University Hospitals has launched a specialized care program for female athletes through its UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute.
The program is designed to provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care tailored to female athletes, who often navigate care across multiple providers. It brings together specialists across orthopedic sports medicine, primary care, nutrition, endocrinology, heart and vascular care and OB-GYN.
The service will support athletes across all life stages, from early sports participation through pregnancy, postpartum recovery and lifelong fitness. It also focuses on injury prevention, hormonal and menstrual health, pelvic floor health and recovery strategies.
Research shows female athletes face higher risks for certain injuries and conditions, including ACL tears, stress fractures and low-energy-related issues, which the program aims to address through integrated care, according to the release.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
