Slocum-Dickson Medical Group in New Hartford, N.Y., has begun offering the Jiffy Knee procedure, a minimally invasive approach to total knee replacement.
John Sullivan, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with the group, is the first and only physician in New York trained to perform the technique, which avoids cutting through tendons by displacing them instead. The approach may result in faster recovery and less postoperative pain compared to traditional total knee replacement, according to a Jan. 27 news release.
Dr. Sullivan underwent specialized training to provide the procedure to patients in the Mohawk Valley region.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
